Katlyn's Puppy Cake

Emma, Maya, Katlyn, Ellie & Lane Katlyn, Dylan, Maya, Emma & Ellie Boys can dress up too! :0) Lane, Dylan & Katlyn Lane, what a pretty schoolgirl Katlyn & her puppy Hot Shot Katlyn & her puppy cake.
We had a cake party for Katlyn a week after the 4th because she wanted me to make her a puppy cake. She had a fun little family cake party. And all she wanted for her birthday was this little stuffed puppy. She named him Hot Shot. In honor of her birthday here are the top 8 things we love about Katlyn:
1. She is very strong willed. Since the day she was born she has been working us to get exactly what she wants. We always seem to give in before she does. She has just started sleeping through the night in her own bed and covering herslef up and going to the bathroom in the night by herself. Whew! It took some bribery, but finally we can get a restful sleep in the night.
2. Her manorisms. Her faces, hand gestures & head movements. She is just very funny when she is trying to make a point or explain something to you.
3. Her excitement of family. She was asked in primary a few months ago what her favoirte thing to do was and she said she loved to be at home watching a family movie and eating popcorn and having hot chocolate. What simple pleasures! She loves to spend time with her cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents & she misses her nana and papa who are on a mission. She loves to be a mother to Dylan and she is excited for a new sibling.
4. Her obsession for clothes. But not in the way one would think. She does like to change her clothes 50 times a day, but she has so many cute outfits that she just won't wear. Her favorite things to wear are a $3 pair of Wal-Mart shorts or a $1 thrift store shirt. Even if all her clothes are clean she still frets about what to wear. One day she got dressed without issue and she said "mom I got dressed and didn't make conversation with you about it." That was her translation of "Katlyn I'm not having this conversation with you anymore." Gotta love it!
5. She is a very good help around the house. Even at 4 she has taken on some chores and I have to say that I am impressed. She likes to help set the table, put the trash bag in the can, do the dishes, clean the bathroom sink (although I think it's just to play in the water and bubbles on the last 2) and she likes to fold laundry and she is pretty good at it. Very meticulous!
6. Her memory. She has a memory that keeps us in check. I can't believe the things that she remembers. I hope that means that she will remember her childhood. I would love to be able to remember a lot about my childhood, wait I would like to remember what I did yesterday! She was in trouble with me the other day and we were getting ready to leave and I told her when we go there that she was going to sit out for 10 minutes and not get to play. Well of course with my memory, I forgot and about 2 hours later I was helping her in the bathroom and she reminded me of the punishment, and by this time I felt it was to late to do it. She has memorized up to her 8th Article of Faith and she is learning new songs all the time. I just wish that she could remember not to hit her brother!
7. She is independant. She can for the most part play well by herself. She seems to have an intrest in playing with younger kids that she can be in charge of. If there is an older or even the same age kids that she is playing with and she can't be in charge she will go and play by herself. She loves to play Ben and Chelsea (they are some friends of ours) which is her version of house. She is always Ben. She usually plays it with her cousin Ellie who is always Chelsea.
8. She's become our girly girl. Up until the last year Katlyn was into a lot of boy things. I wanted to her to be Minnie Mouse for halloween, she wanted to be Micky; she wanted Diego bedding and I wanted Dora; blue was her favorite color and now everything has to be pink; she loves barbies and playing with her dollhouse; and she loves to dress up, much to her father's dismay (he hates the clean up afterwards, with all the clothes strewn about.)My sister Rozzie gave her lots of fun dress-ups for her birthday, each outfit carefully themed eg: schoolgirl, chef, ballerina, painter, princess etc. It has been a lot of fun to have new stuff to dress up with.
We love our little girl and what she is becoming!

I love #4 about her not making conversation with you. Nice. :) We love Katlyn, too!
